Design

The Nitecore TINI is very small for first impression. As you can see in the picture below, it just occupies a small area of my palm. It measures a length of 43.3mm and a head size of 25.4 mm. The one we reviewed here is silver that looks premium. The body is made of Aero grade aluminium alloy and has a good finished that is durable and resisted scratching. Besides, it features electroplated silver edges and torx screws on it. The whole hand-on feeling of the TINI is good, though it’s very small.

From the view of the light head, we can see that the TINI utilizes a bead surface reflector to provide soft and uniform lighting. The TINI keychain light uses dual side switches. The electroplated light-permeable switches are located on the body. At the tail of the TINI, there is a keyhold design for attaching the key clasp. The Nitecore TINI is a USB rechargeable light. The USB charging port is placed at the side. There is a rubber cover on it for water and dust resistant (IP54 rating).

Mode & UI

The Nitecore TINI supports four modes – three general brightness levels and the Turbo mode. The UI is very simple and controlled by the dual side buttons. Press and hold the power switch for 2 seconds, you can turn the light on. This will help prevent accidental activation effectively. To select brightness level, tap the mode button when the light is on and repeatedly to cycle through Low-Mid-High. The Nitecore TINI can support direct access to Turbo mode no matter it’s on or off by pressing the mode button for 0.6 seconds.

Performance

As mentioned in the beginning, the Nitecore TINI uses a CREE XP-G2 S3 LED that can boast maximum output of 380 lumens (Turbo mode). The following table shows its detailed data based on ANSI/NEMA FL1 standards.

We tested the general brightness levels. It has a smooth flood beam pattern of about 170 degree with an evenly bright spot. The High and Mid modes are bright, but the Low Mode is a bit weak. The tint color is creamy white that makes our eyes feel comfortable.

Battery

The battery of the Nitecore TINI is a bit disappointed compared to the Nitecore TIP. It just comes with a 280mAh built-in Li-ion battery while the TIP’s is 500mAh. But Nitecore seems to improved the battery because they boasts that the TINI can supports up to 60 hours use, 14 hours longer than the TIP (46 hours max runtime). Besides, there is a built-in indicator LEDs reporting the remaining power level. The Nitecore TINI is charged easily by various power sources via the USB port. As there is no micro USB cable coming along the package, you need to find a proper micro USB cable for charging.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a tiny keychain flashlight for everyday carry use, the Nitecore TINI is an ideal choice. You can get an exquisite design and decent brightness. Moreover, you don’t need to worry about the quality as Nitecore always offers good products with reasonable price. This new keychian light is now available on GearBest at $29.99 with free shipping.
